A budget that will shut people out, add to corporate coffers.
With reference to the editorial Finding safety in numbers (Our Take, March 1), the budget proposals have disappointed all citizens. The prime issues of inflation, corruption and black money which agitated the common man have been wilfully neglected. The nominal tax relief has been neutralised by raising the tax on healthcare. It is a budget meant to benefit the corporate sector.

The blind side of justice
With reference to Anil Dharker's article Not in the balance (March 1), it's amazing that even after two years, Ajmal Kasab, the lone survivor of the Mumbai terror attack, has not been punished. It has led to an ironical situation where our judicial system exercises fairness in dealing with a known killer like Kasab while thousands of innocent people languish in jail, awaiting justice.

Kasab seems to be getting away just because he belongs to a particular community. Our pseudo-secular credentials have so inhibited the executive, legislature and judiciary that they hesitate to take decisive action. One wonders how long Kasab will continue to mock our system and enjoy being our guest.
