With reference to the report Copter deal during Tyagi, UPA tenure (February 15), the UPA government is once again in trouble. The Opposition will use the case to target it in the budget session of Parliament. Even though the UPA has announced a CBI inquiry into the mega deal and has also promised to act on the findings, the Supreme Court must monitor the probe. The guilty must be brought to book and the deal should be scrapped.

Infuse confidence in the Valley
The editorial Don’t work at cross-purposes (Our Take, February 13) correctly suggests that the UPA should call an all-party meeting to discuss the issues pertaining to the hanging of Parliament attack accused Afzal Guru and the curfew in the Valley. Unless all stakeholders are taken into confidence, it will be difficult for the UPA to convince the people that justice has been done in the Parliament attack case.

The curfew imposed in the Kashmir Valley in the wake of Afzal Guru’s hanging speak volumes about the failure of the political machinery to address the travails of Kashmiris. The government should lose no time in bringing Kashmiris into the mainstream.
