Protests and blackouts really hurt the lives of common people
With reference to total blackout in Seemandhra, Naidu attacks Sonia in Delhi (October 8), it is unfortunate that the people of Andhra Pradesh have to suffer because of the ad-hoc decision taken by the central government. State politicians like Chandrababu Naidu and Jagan Mohan Reddy, who claim to represent the feelings of the people, fail to understand that it is the innocent people who suffer the most during these protests and blackouts. The skyrocketing prices of essential products like milk, vegetables and bread are a blow to the people.

Politicians should get together to bring peace back to Andhra Pradesh
With reference to A case of really poor management (Our Take, October 8), the Congress’ move to carve out a Telangana state, purely based on political arithmetic, has led to the present turmoil in Andhra Pradesh. The state assembly has not been allowed to debate the issue of bifurcation. At present the crisis has acquired a momentum in which all the political parties are fishing in troubled waters. It is high time our politicians thought about the state and the wellbeing of its people and get together to arrive at an amicable solution. The present situation should not be left to fester. There should be peace now, and bifurcation later.
