Aamir Khan's show is holding up a mirror to our social problems
It is heartening to see that Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has taken up important social issues like child abuse through his television show 'Satyamev Jayate' and his article Please listen to them (Comment, May 14). This is an important issue and needs urgent attention. If we want to save our children from abusers, we must create awareness among parents and children. This is exactly what Khan is doing through his shows and articles.

Blinded by the pursuit of luxury
This refers to the report 15 months on, Raja walks out on bail (May 16). It seems extraordinary the way we accept corruption as a part of our lives. We have become numb to it unless it directly affects us. The recent release of former telecom minister A Raja, the raids at former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa's home and office for illegal mining contracts appear to the masses as distant affairs. We must ponder on the fact that for some more luxury, is it morally right to sell our conscience? The recent IPL match-fixing poses a question to the youth of today: what defines our notion of a good life? It's time to do some serious introspection.

SRK is not above the law
With reference to the report Defiant Shah Rukh wants apology, says was provoked (May 18), Shah Rukh Khan may be an iconic figure for cinegoers, but he is not above the law. Being a celebrity does not mean he has the right to create a ruckus in a public place and that too involving security personnel. In fact, he should appreciate the fact that the security agency was doing its duty, instead of crying foul.
