Eggs and more
Where: Eggspectation, Jaypee, Vasant Vihar True to its name, Eggspectation offers you no less than 10 varieties of eggy treats on its breakfast menu. So, if you are a lover of eggs, this is the place to be. Our pick here is Brioche Brilliance, made with eggs scrambled with cream and chives, served on toasted brioche bread. There are various flavours of fresh juices and coffee to choose from. You also have traditional Indian breakfast items such as ajwaini parantha rubbing shoulders with European classic on its menu. To pamper your sweet tooth, there are pancakes and waffles topped with chocolate chips or apple or banana. The lavish breakfast spread is a big hit with the diplomats in the city. Cost for two: Rs 1,100

Oh-so-English!
Where: Forgetful Elephant, GK-I With floral upholstery, bay windows, skylights and flower arrangements, its’ interiors have an English countryside cottage feel that’ll keep drawing you back. For a frutilicious start to the day, order fresh fruit prepped with honey. Go back to the fox hunt days with the English cold cut platter served that has salami, ham, sausages, bacon and Mortdadella, along with melba toast and coleslaw. And it can’t get any more Swiss than this — you can melt your raclette (a Swiss cheese) in a tabletop oven and have it with fish, vegetables or cured meat. Those on the green bandwagon can ask for pan-fried mushroom on toast — button mushroom sautéed with cream and cheese, served on crusty bread. You also won’t go wrong with bubble and squeak, a classic English breakfast dish made with potatoes and vegetables. Cost for two: Rs 500

High on health Where: Smoke House Deli, Vasant Kunj When you have a NID graduate’s permanent marker-drawn sketches on the walls, who also insists on leaving the AC duct naked, you know you’ll have the town talking about the interiors. Despite interiors like that, the place hasn’t let its focus shift from food. Try their granola chunks with honeyed probiotic curd and fresh fruits. Among the omelettes, go for the oh-so-smoky Turkey Pastrami (it’s a far cry from those unhealthy ham-egg combos, bets chef Shamshul Wahid). The eggs here are also done the smart way — you can skip the egg yolks and only have egg whites. Cost for two: Rs 800
