Planning a group tour of Delhi, you can now book a metro coach to take you around the city.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corp-oration (DMRC) has decided to allow tour operators, government and private agencies, or any individual on behalf of a group or school to avail the facility. However, the coaches can’t be booked for private functions, weddings or birthday parties.
Only bogeys in 8-coach trains can be booked for a group of 45-150 people. The facility will be available on any line including the Airport Express line.
Charges vary from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 and includes facilitation charges for providing car parking, a visit to the Metro Museum and faster security checks at station gates. The group will be welcomed into the coach with personalised recorded messages and a DMRC official will give tours of the station and the train.
However, you will have to shell out more if the originating and terminating stations are on different lines. “You can go (on one booking) from Dwarka to Noida (blue line) but if you have to go from Dwarka to Qutub Minar (blue line and then yellow line), you will have to pay for an extra trip,” said a DMRC official.
