"Not at this stage no, I'm retired," Warne said when asked if he would be back for the World Cup.

There has been speculation in Australian media over recent weeks that Warne, 36, could be poised to make a comeback to the country's one-day team for the 2007 limited-overs tournament. Warne returned home from South Africa on the eve of the 2003 World Cup after testing positive for a banned diuretic. The doping infringement earned him a one-year ban.

Australia overcame the loss of their star spinner to win the tournament, easily beating India in the final.
