Sources said the chief engineer, small irrigation RA Jureen had faxed a circular to the district magistrate in which he had said that the proposal for imparting training to engineers in water conservation and under ground water recharge action plan had been suspended as the required funds were not sanctioned by the government.

It is worthy to note that the government had issued an order in December 2004 for action plan for conservation of water and underground water.

According to the directive, the district officials had to submit their action plan by July 2005 for designing a long-term action plan for water conservation.

However, after 18 months of submission of the project report the State government has failed to chalk out any action plan for water conservation in any district in the state.
