Water from Jat pitcher costs Dalit an arm

A drink of water literally costs an arm in this part of the country. Rajesh (25), a Dalit, nearly lost his left arm for drinking water from a a Jat landlord’s pitcher.

A drink of water literally costs an arm in this part of the country. Rajesh (25), a Dalit, nearly lost his left arm for drinking water from a a Jat landlord’s pitcher.

A resident of Sanyana village, Rajesh was on his way to work in Daulatpur on Wednesday, when he drank from the pitcher of farmer, Rajender.

Enraged, the man attacked Raju with a sickle, severing his arm. Rajender has since been arrested. Rajesh was operated upon at a hospital in Hisar.
