Water supply has emerged as the top concern for more than 50 per cent people in most constituencies, a survey by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has found out.
The survey, in which respondents were asked to talk about their concerns, was conducted by AAP to assess its poll prospects.
“In most constituencies, more than 50 per cent people said water supply was a major problem,” said Yogendra Yadav, psephologist and the party’s national executive member.
The party conducted the survey in all 70 constituencies with 35,000 respondents. Yadav chairs AAP’s five-member manifesto draft committee.
Ahead of the December 4 elections, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party is in the process of preparing 71 manifestos, one for the city and 70 others — one each — for 70 constituencies.
Unlike traditional manifestos that feature lofty promises, AAP’s poll pitch will be the result of research into pressing issues. “This team finds out what the actual problems are, their solutions and whether they are technically and financially feasible,” Yadav said.
The broad issues in the main manifesto that have emerged from the survey and inputs from all constituencies are water, electric bills, women’s safety, education and health, among others.
Local manifestos will come after the main one. The committee has already received inputs from 25 constituencies for the main manifesto. Inputs from the rest of the constituencies are pouring in too and these too would be vetted for inclusion in the main agenda.
