Waterlogging in low-lying areas

Residents of Scheme No 54, the politically important Nanda Nagar - home among others to City BJP chief Ramesh Mendola and three mayoral council members, as well as South Toda, Palda and the shanty town of PC Sethi Nagar have all complained of water logging in the aftermath of the rains.

The incessant drizzle has also disembowelled roads in many parts of the City. Among the stretches of road worst affected by the rains are Jawahar Marg, Anoop Nagar-AB Road, at and around Raj Mohalla Square, MG Road and the approach route to Rajkumar overbridge.

Interestingly, although the Indore Municipal Corporation normally invites tenders for road patchwork well before the rains begin it has so far failed to do so this year. So chances are that road repair, if it does happen, will have to wait at least until after the monsoon departs.

Meanwhile, Mayor Dr Uma Shashi Sharma issued instructions to zone officers to ensure daily cleaning of drains and garbage removal in their areas to prevent flooding in low-lying areas.
