WB govt biggest enemy of workers

NATIONAL PRESIDENT of Joint Platform of Action (JPA), -an organisation of Central and State government employees, Achint Sinha, accused the West Bengal government of being the biggest enemy of workers. Sinha was in the city to take part in a meeting organised by the city unit of the organisation. Talking to Hindustan Times, Sinha stated that workers were being harassed by the WB government.

“The CPM government boasts itself as the most inclined towards the interest of workers but the reality is just the opposite,” stated Sinha. In West Bengal the DA is 16 per cent less in comparison to other states”, added Sinha. Further lambasting the CPM government, Sinha pointed out that more than 1500 labourers had committed suicide in Kolkata and adjoining areas in the past three years. He also accused the Union government of pursuing anti- people policies.

“A ten-point agenda has been prepared by the JPA and a nationwide campaign would be launched and thereafter a call for nationwide strike would be given,” remarked Sinha. Expressing his anguish at the privatisation policy pursued by the Union government, Sinha stated that Centre was contemplating to do away with the concept of permanent employees.
