Vital clues about the double murder case in Noida have been collected and police are building up evidence against the suspect(s), Uttar Pradesh’s Special Task Force officers said on Tuesday.
There was still no word about what could have been a possible motive behind the killing of 14-year-old Arushi Talwar, daughter of a doctor couple of Noida, and their domestic help Hemraj.
Arushi was found dead in her bedroom on Friday and Hemraj’s decaying body was discovered on the rooftop of their Sector 25 home the next day.
The state government dispatched an STF team to crack the case after initial goof ups by the Noida police. Officers said they were close to cracking the case but did not divulge any details.
“Someone extremely well known, specifically not a distant acquaintance, murdered the two. Friendly entry, no sign of struggle and other circumstantial evidence point to an insider's role,” said STF officer.
The officer said they were coordinating with Noida police officers regarding the investigation and the case would be worked out soon after concrete evidences are collected and added the motive was still not clear.

{{/usCountry}}Noida police also said they suspected someone known to the Talwars committed the crime. “We have questioned several people and are trying to piece together the mystery,” said an officer. Police also still didn’t confirm or disprove rumours that they were probing the role of Arushi’s parents in the crime. “Everyone is being questioned,” said SSP (Noida) A. Satish Ganesh.
Investigations were shrouded in controversy with STF officers saying the Noida police weren’t cooperating. Sources revealed STF sleuths also had a confrontation with the Noida counterparts when the former inquired for certain details.
An officer who is part of the investigation, requesting anonymity, revealed the laidback attitude of the Noida police the very first day spoiled several vital clues in and around the spot.
A casual attitude was applied by senior officers while floating the theory that Hemraj had killed Aarushi.
The slackness continued, with officers not seeking specific information in the post-mortem examination. “Even though doctors had not detected rupture on private parts or any other evidence corroborating rape with the girl victim, the police did not ask for a slide test to get confirmation if any such attempt was made on her,” said an officer.
