UNION MINISTER for Women Welfare Renuka Chaudhary on Saturday asserted that Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s resignation would lead to a sea change in the political situation and help the party rebuild itself.
Chaudhary was talking to mediapersons at the UPCC headquarters. She said Congressmen were proud to serve a leader like Sonia Gandhi. By resigning from the posts of MP and National Advisory Council chairperson, Sonia Gandhi had not only made a sacrifice, but also upheld the high values that the Congress had been fighting for over the years, she said.
If India were a successful country now, it was because of the foundation that the Congress had laid, she added.
Later, she a attended a seminar at Ganna Sansthan auditorium.
Although the seminar was organised to discuss national development vis-à-vis issues concerning health, education and employment, the occasion turned out to be an opportunity to sing praises of Sonia Gandhi.
Speaking at the seminar, Chaudhary also referred to female foeticide. Quoting
statistics, she said the issue needed further discussion.
Talking to media persons, she referred to efforts being made by Delhi University students who had decided to address seminars and take part in debates at all State universities to discuss the issue.

{{/usCountry}}By tendering her resignation, Sonia Gandhi had only enhanced her political stature, she said. Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Salman Khurshid said Sonia Gandhi was always ready to make a sacrifice. There was no doubt that she was the tallest leader in the country, he said.
