We want India's better relations with US: China

"We would like to see India develop better relations with the US, just as we are working for better relations with the US," Chinese Ambassador Sun Yuxi told reporters in New Delhi.

Asked about the understanding on civil nuclear cooperation reached between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President George W Bush in Washington on July 18 last year, he said, "We are happy".

There is uncertainty over an agreement being signed on implementation of the nuclear deal as the two sides are facing roadblocks over the issue of India's plan to separate its civilian and military nuclear facilities.

Sun said, "Every government has the right to develop its energy programme. Given that India is a rising country in the developing world, we fully understand your energy needs," he said.

The next round of talks on the boundary question is expected to be held here in middle of March, he said.

Lauding India's policy of 'one China', he said if Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama wanted to return to China, he has to give up efforts to divide China.
