A SENIOR Indian Information Service Officer S H M Zaidi, Public Relations Officer (PRO-Defence), Central Command was given a warm send off on his retirement here on Friday after putting in over 37 glorious years’ of service.
A farewell party was organised at the premises of the PRO office in Lucknow Cantonment in which staff members and mediapersons participated.
Zaidi had an illustrious career in the media. He had served in the Press Information Bureau (PIB), New Delhi and Lucknow as well as Doordarshan Kendra Lucknow, Delhi, Ranchi and Raipur. He regularly contributes to Urdu, Hindi and English journals on social, cultural and religious issues. He has two books to his credit one each in Urdu and Hindi. The book in Hindi – Television News: Writing and Reading – has the distinction of being the first of its kind practical book on the subject in India. Zaidi also writes poetry and is actively associated with many literary organisations of the city. Dr Kismet Anil Sagar, a senior Indian Information Service Officer has taken over as the PRO (Defence).
