Erring doctors are finally caught in an official 'web'. In a major step towards making Provincial Medical Service (PMS) doctors accountable to the general public, the health department has decided to put all the information related to the service period, transfer and present posting of PMS doctors on the Net.

The idea is to make all the official information easily available to the public, so that the government doctors may not skip transfers and remain available at their place of posting.
In case any misleading information is provided by a PMS doctor in their data base then the government will initiate strict action against that doctor. The proforma has already been prepared and the doctors are being asked to fill in the proforma. The information will be later put on the official website. The website may be launched in the next 15 days.
Chief medical officer, Dr Shantimal Singhavi, said during the recently held meeting of CMOs at Lucknow the principal secretary (health) directed to make all the information related to transfer and place of posting of PMS doctors available on the Net. She had also directed to initiate strict action in case any doctor furnishes misleading information about his place of posting and transfer on the Net. "According to the principal secretary the doctor may also be sacked from service in this case. Even the general public can retrieve information and make complaint to the authorities in case any wrong information is given in the data base of PMS doctors," he added.
Dr Singhavi said the proforma is ready and the doctors are being asked to fill in the proforma.
