Wed close: Sensex sheds 204 points

The slump continues for 5th straight session as funds continue to offload part of holdings in blue-chip shares.

The downslide in Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex continued unabated for the fifth straight session on Wednesday and lost more than 204 points as funds continued to offload part of their holdings in blue-chip shares.

The 30-share index, which had lost nearly 450 points in the past four sessions, fell by another 204.17 points, or 1.50 per cent to close at 13,362.76 after touching the day's low of 13,336.52 points.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange (NIFTY) index fell by 61.10 points at 3,850.30.

Stock brokers said funds and investors sold heavily ahead of Thursday's third quarter earnings results from Infosys Technologies.
