She’s one of the youngest and most stylish producers Bollywood has. Just 22, Rhea Kapoor, actor Anil Kapoor’s second daughter and Sonam Kapoor’s younger sister is already at the helm of the big budget Sonam, Abhay Deol starrer,
Aisha.
Based on Jane Austen’s classic, Emma, the film, says Rhea, will redefine fashion. “This is going to be the first fashion-forward film,” says Rhea. Its entire cast has been dressed in luxury designer labels. “She (Aisha) is the quintessential Dior girl,” says Rhea in an interview in Harper’s Bazaar India’s February issue.
Having studied filmmaking in New York, Rhea feels now is the best time to make films in India. “If I had to put my actors in fluorescent tops, denim skirts, and hooker heels, I’d have died. It doesn’t make sense, because no real person dresses like that. This is the best time to arrive,” she says. Already a proud owner of over 100 pairs of shoes, heels is one of Rhea’s passions. “From vintage to Louis Vuittons to gold cowboy boots — I embrace them all. If I wear flats, I wear them comfortable. But when I wear heels, I wear killer heels-4-5 inches. No mercy. There’s nothing in between,” says the lanky 5’8”.
Style is important to Rhea, but only if it comes with fun. She says, “When I dress up, I don’t dress up for anybody. I dress up for a fun moment. I’d call my style modern, but not overtly trendy.”
