The day started off with an official wine-tasting in the Tasting Room headed by marketing head, Jayne Pearce. Delicate rosés followed whites and were rounded off with full-bodied red wines as Pearce talked her audience through the basics of wine appreciation.

Premiere night
The Sula Dindori Viognier Reserve made its premiere at the fest and was received with enthusiasm. The golden hued wine revealed a bouquet of lychee and honeysuckle on the nose and a balanced zest on the palate. The wine is yet to be released in the market.

The Late Harvest Chenin Blanc, Sula’s first dessert wine, didn’t fare as well since the overly sweet notes didn’t please with the audience.

No wine-related event is complete without the official crushing of the grapes. Tubs of freshly picked red grapes were arranged in the courtyard as visitors rolled up their jeans and jumped in. While the revellers made quick work of the grapes, an onlooker jokingly whispered to his friend, “I hope we don’t have to drink that now..”

As the happily high party-goers stumbled out, plans to attend the next hedonistic fest were already being made. Cheers to that!
