Till a few years ago it was this image of the ‘Murphy baby’ — the famous cherub who was the mascot for Murphy radio sets in the good old days — that clouded the minds of those who went for adoption.

But attitudes have changed, albeit a little, with regard to looks, according to some adoption agencies.
“Everyone used to have this image of a dream baby in mind when they came to us. But now a lot of couples have no issues about the child’s complexion or features,” said Sunil Arora, administrator of Bal Asha Trust at Mahalaxmi.
