When it rains...it floods

IT RAINED cats and dogs on Saturday evening. And Sunday showed the damage it caused in the city areas. Water logging gave sleepless nights to many people as soon water entered many houses and people found no way to stop it. It was quite a battle for the residents. Power got snapped as usual, water had left no place and there was no way they could defend themselves from poisonous intruders.

Water logging gave sleepless nights to many people as soon water entered many houses and people found no way to stop it. It was quite a battle for the residents. Power got snapped as usual, water had left no place and there was no way they could defend themselves from poisonous intruders.

As always all the claims that Lucknow Municipal Corporation make before onset of monsoon and kind of talks its officers do about ‘immediate relief’, ‘separate teams’ or ‘control rooms’ failed.

In Alambagh’s Azadnagar rain water entered several houses. Heavy household objects submerged, while light ones were seen floating. By Sunday afternoon, the area had knee-deep water and people took up the task of clearing obstructions in nullahs on their own to let water drain out. Some people deployed household water lifting pumps to pump out water from their houses. In Bholakhera too situation was same, and here people could not manage to drain out water.

Several sectors of Indira Nagar too had over one feet of water spread over large areas.

Administration had tough time in making people remove the blockade. And imagine the Ghantghar park had waist deep water. Several Telibagh area, several houses in LDA Kanpur road colony too had water entering into house and consequent demonstration by people. Sujanpura, Chillawan, Vikas nagar, Indira Nagar sector 8, Muftiganj’s Sunaar Wali Gali, Alambagh’s harijan basti, had intense water logging.

There was an incident each of wall caving in Aashiana and Balrampur Hostel.
