The tall claim of Delhi Gurgaon Super Connectivity Limited (DGSCL) of having deployed seven ambulances on the Expressway fell flat on Wednesday when an accident victim had to wait for more than 30 minutes for being evacuated from his mangled car.

It was the efforts of the local commuters that saved the life of Sagar Kalra, an IT professional who is still unconscious at Artemis Hospital.

The accident took place at 11.25am but the ambulance reached there at 12.03pm. The police reached the spot a few minutes later, said an eyewitness.

Kalra, an employee of Wipro, lost balance when a tyre of his car burst. His Maruti Estilo car was mangled after hitting another vehicle. A bike also hit the car from behind. Kalra was rushed to Shalu Hospital and finally referred to Artemis Hospital, said Snehdeep, Sagar’s friend.

“The emergency number 100, 101 and 102 and other helplines were not working. We somehow managed to contact them but it took more then half an hour for the ambulance and the police to reach the spot,” said Snehdeep.
