The police claim to have attained a major breakthrough in the Tuesday crimes in Noida by “pressuring” a certain Jatinder Yadav into surrendering before a court on Thursday. Yadav alias Lacchi, police said, is a notorious criminal and was wanted in a murder case, besides being involved in several other cases of robbery and snatching.
If police are to be believed, Yadav is the main suspect behind the murder of Sheeba Thomas, the attack on retired Lt General TJS Gill, and the three robberies that took place on Tuesday night. His accomplices helped him in the series of attacks.
“One of the motorcycles used to commit the crimes has been recovered from Yadav’s house, although his surrender is in connection with some other murder case. Only after his interrogation can we say for sure if he actually committed the latest crimes,” Director General of Police Vikram Singh told journalists on Thursday.
Singh maintained the five incidents that took place on Tuesday within a span of one hour were interlinked. “There is a strong possibility that the same gang committed the crimes,” said Singh, adding they were also probing if former airhostess Sheeba Thomas was murdered due to some personal rivalry. Sheeba’s parents have taken her body to Nagpur.
“We obviously have to rule out all possibilities, though circumstantial evidence suggests the attackers wanted to rob people, and this is our primary line of investigation,” said Singh.

{{/usCountry}}Lt. General (retd) TJS Gill, who was shot twice in the stomach, is recuperating at a hospital. He had shown exceptional courage when he fought three robbers and then drove home despite gunshot wounds. “Doctors have removed the bullet. I am lucky the injury did not affect any of my vital organs,” he said.
