GM assures security to those who join duty

WHILE ROADWAYS Transport employees were adamant on going on strike in protest against Cabinet Minister Naresh Agarwal’s decision to suspend those who participated in the symbolic strike on July 11, Roadways general manager Ramjeet Verma claimed that the buses would run normally and that all preparation had been made in the wake of the strike threat.
Talking to mediapersons, Verma said he had asked the district officials to beef up security arrangements at the depot and the roadways bus station and assured that security will be provided to the drivers and conductors who joined duty. Claiming that the strike of the employees was uncalled for, Verma said the government had adopted a flexible attitude and most of the demands were under consideration. He appealed to the employees not to mount undue pressure and join duty in the larger interest of the common people.
Responding to a question, Verma said the employees who participate in the strike would face stringent action.
Meanwhile, president of UP Roadways employees union Dinesh Tiwari said the strike against the adamant attitude of Naresh Agarwal had been supported by all unions. The drivers and conductors who come to join duty would bear the brunt of employees’ anger, he threatened.
Meanwhile, people and traders have suffered major loss due to the strike on July 11. Organising secretary of Uttar Pradesh Udyog Vyapar Sangthan Suresh Prasad Agrahari handed over a memorandum to the district magistrate demanding to ensure normal operation of buses. Agrahari said the steps taken by the Cabinet minister had brought the corporation in profit and condemned the strike call of the employees.
