"I have been subjected to sexual harassment by the Punjab Sainik Welfare director J. S. Jaiswal who tried to compel me to have physical relations with him," said Raj Kaur, the widow of Havildar Gurmail Singh who was killed in action during 'Operation Rhino' in Assam on August 22, 1997.

Brigadier Jaiswal refuted the allegations, saying he was innocent and was "open to any inquiry."

Kaur said she had already represented the issue to the Chief of Army Staff, Kendriya Sainik Board, GOC-in-C Western Command and the National Commission for Women and but received "no positive response" so far.

Bitta, who was approached by the widow, has demanded a CBI inquiry into the accusations. “We will get a case registered against the Director of Sainik Welfare," he said.
