Unable to accept the death of her husband, a woman in Himachal Pradesh did not cremate his decaying body in the hope of a miracle that would bring him back to life.
Mukandi Lal, 50, died in a road accident near the town of Poanta Sahib, 180 km from here, Monday. But, instead of cremating the body, his wife Mita Devi travelled to Sirsa in neighbouring Haryana to meet her guru who she said would restore her husband to life.
"But her guru Sadguru Gurmit Ram Sahim Singh explained to her that death was irreversible and she should accept this fact and cremate the body instead," Anant Kumar Dhiman, a relative accompanying the grieving widow, was quoted as saying in newspapers.
Mukandi Lal's body was finally cremated, much to the relief of mourning relatives and friends.
