Answering a query at a press conference on what the government planned to do, Chidambaram said he will find out about the incident from Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi and "I will ask the chief minister what action he will take".

Four of the 11 men who molested and stripped the teenage girl outside a pub in Guwahati city four days ago have been arrested, police in that city said on Friday.

The 11 men have been identified and efforts are on to trace the remaining men involved in the crime Monday night, the official said.

The group molested and stripped the girl after she came out with her fiends from a restaurant-cum-bar Monday night. Although she cried for help, no one initially came forward to help.

To a query that the police chief of Guwahati had made light of the incident, Chidambaram said if the police official had indeed done so, then he condemned it.

"Nobody should make light of molesting a woman or a child."
