India would have to resort to nuclear war if Pakistan does not mend its ways and reciprocate the friendly gestures extended by Narendra Modi, Shiv Sena party chief Uddhav Thackeray warned Pakistan on the eve of Modi’s swearing-in ceremony.
Thackeray dismissed rumours suggesting that his party would stay away from the ceremony as Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to attend the swearing-in ceremony on May 26.
“Now that we have accepted the strong and able leadership of Modi, we do not want to raise objection and create an unnecessary hurdle in his efforts. But if Pakistan does not mend its ways then we will be left with no option but to use nuclear force,” Thackeray said in a statement, confirming his presence on May 26.

Thackeray, however, reminded Modi that talks with Pakistan have always been a one-sided effort and that it is difficult to trust them.
“Their attacks in Kashmir and the border areas have still not stopped. But is Modi government promising better days ahead for Kashmir by inviting Sharif for talks is the real question,” he added.

{{/usCountry}}Thackeray also questioned whether anyone would think of the families and widows of the soldiers who lost their lives fighting on the Pakistan borders. “Kargil happened during Sharif’s reign where they chopped off the heads of our martyrs, and we shouldn’t forget that,” he said.
