THE LDA warnings ever since it last undertook an eviction drive seriously on April 15 seems to have had little effect on the affluent illegal occupants of the Nehru Enclave.
It is in this context that the department’s latest ultimatum to the unauthorised occupants to vacate their premises by May 25 appears more to be for the sake of record.
While the flat-grabbers have been told that they would be thrown out if they do not vacate by Thursday, the defaulters, some of whom include heavyweights of political parties and even judiciary, have been given time till June 10 to deposit the balance amount. But if sources are to be believed, the staff of the property department is yet to come out with its list of total number of defaulters.
“It would be very difficult to undertake any eviction exercise unless property section staff comes clean on the issue and furnishes the list that it has been hiding of both defaulters and illegal occupants,” said an LDA official.
In fact, LDA Secretary RB Yadav has postponed several meetings called by him to chalk out an action plan to evict the encroachers from the colony because of lack of information and reluctance on part of the property section staff to provide the same.

{{/usCountry}}“A letter seeking requisite police back up for the proposed drive has been sent to both the SSP and the District Magistrate by the LDA Vice Chairman,” said an LDA official.
