Talking to Hindustan Times over phone, Rao said he had no plans to make any important announcement on September 23, as it was celebrated as “shaheedi diwas” of his grandfather Rao Tula Ram. He said that the celebration would remain a simple affair.

Notably, Rao had been criticising the state chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for past more than six months for making “uneven” development in the state.

Rao had recently hit news headlines over demanding probe into Vadra-DLF land deals.

On March 4, Rao had floated a non-political outfit tittled “Haryana Insaaf Manch” (HIM) during a rally at Pataudi village of Gurgaon parliamentary constituency. At the time of announcement, he claimed that the HIM would work as a platform to raise the voice of regional biasness against the state Congress regime.

His younger daughter Bharti Rao has been appointed as the president of the party.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Sunday had praised the contribution of Rao Tula Ram struggle in 1857 revolt, in his Rewari ex-servicemen rally.
