'Winning toss is important for Pak'
If I win the toss, I will have put India in. The ball is moving around a lot and if we can pick up early wickets we will be in control, writes Inzamam-ul-Haq.
Ever since we stepped into England, I have found people only talking about the match on September 19. It were as if it was THE match of the Champions Trophy. It hardly surprises me these days, it was the same in Colombo during the Asia Cup, in Holland during the tri-series as well as other parts of the world.Among cricket rivalries, India vs Pakistan is perhaps the most appealing to cricket lovers. England and Australia may disagree, but Indo-Pak matches are clearly the flavour of international cricket these days.So expect a full-house, passionate fans and absorbing cricket on Super Sunday. Usually, in one-day games the toss does not play a big role, but I am afraid, the conditions in England being what they are at the moment, the spin of the coin is going to be of crucial importance.I would even say that fifty per cent of the match would be won by the team winning the toss. The other fifty will be theirs to lose.Let me put it this way, if I win the toss, I will have no hesitation in putting India in. The ball is moving around a lot in the first-15 overs. Batting is not easy and if we can pick up early wickets we will be in control. I am sure Sourav too will have similar thoughts crossing his mind. The key will be keeping wickets in hand for a late charge, but in India-Pakistan matches it is difficult to say what sort of a total is "safe". Both sides have depth in batting to go after any target, so expect another cracker of a match.Another reason I would like to bowl first is that my pace attack would love these conditions. They hardly had anything to do against Kenya where Shahid Afridi's leg-spin and Shoaib Malik's off-spin was enough for us, but against India, the roles will be reversed, I guess. Our main worry is our inability to finish off games. It has happened twice against Australia -- in Holland and at the Lord's. And on both occasions we could not pull it off after being right on top. We must improve in this area if we are to pull it off on Sunday. We are also happy and relieved that Sachin Tendulkar will not be around. India will certainly miss his class and ability with the bat as well as with the ball. The pressure, for a change, will be mostly on India. We have a better net run-rate and Pakistan will go through in case there is an abandonment. However, that is the last thing we want.We want to beat them fair and square and make the semis.
