A 26-year-old HR executive working with an information technology company allegedly committed suicide in his rented apartment in DLF City on Monday night.
According to police officials, Surender Singh Balhara, a native of Rohtak in Haryana, was upset over his strained relationship with a woman, who is a professor in Delhi University.
The two had been in a relationship for five years and had planned to get married.
Of late, however, they had been quarrelling frequently and the girl had refused to marry him. This, the police believe, could have driven Balhara to take the extreme step.
Police officials said prima facie, it appeared to be a case of suicide but probe would be initiated if the family of the deceased asks for it.
The postmortem report, meanwhile, has confirmed it to be a case of suicide.
Dr Deepak Mathur, who conducted the post-mortem, ruled out foul play saying it seemed to be a clear case of suicide as there were no bruises or wounds on the body.
Singh was living here in a rented accommodation in H-Block of DLF City (Phase 3) with three friends who work in private firms.

{{/usCountry}}“The deceased had been working as a manager in the human resource department in Wipro. He had shifted to Gurgaon last year. According to his mobile phone details, he made a call to his girlfriend around 1.02 am. At 1.12 am, he also spoke to her sister. Later at 1.32am, he made the last call to one Deepak,” said a police official.
The couple was supposed to get married soon but due to some unknown reason, the girl called off the plans and Balhara decided to end his life, the official added.
“We did not recover any suicide note from the spot. After having dinner on Monday, all the friends went to sleep around midnight. In the morning, Balhara's friend saw the body and informed the police,” said another police official.
A case under Section 174 of the CRPC has been registered in the DLF Phase-2 police station. The victim's body was handed over his family and his relatives have not filed a complaint against anyone, the police said.
