This is the time to take the plunge or else it is going to be the beginning of the end of the service, said IAS officers. A resolution urging the State Government to withdraw the order was passed.

This was decided at the emergency meeting of the association’s executive committee held at the Civil Services Institute here today. Besides writing to the State Government and the Centre, the association is also weighing legal options to move the High Court or the Supreme Court. Association Secretary Sanjay Bhoosreddy, however, said he hoped that a solution to the issue may be found at the level of the State Government only.

Reddy said the association has convened its next executive committee meeting on June 7, to decide a future course of action.

With today’s resolution, the association has obviously decided to take its fight to the finish and get the State Government’s orders withdrawn.

It is banking on the All India Services Rules and the IAS cadre rules to make its point and win the battle against the State Government.

Dutt in his letter to then Chief Secretary R Ramani had said, “It needs to be mentioned that any action by the State Government in posting non-cadre officers to the cadre posts of IAS, being in violation of IAS cadre rules, would be patently contrary to provisions of law.”
