A private bus driver and conductor were arrested on Tuesday on charges of gangraping a woman travelling in their bus in Shishgarh area on Monday night. The woman also stated that the accused snatched her 14-day-old son, who was travelling with her, and threw him on the bus floor, killing the infant.
However, denying her claim, the police said the child died due to poor health. His body has been sent for autopsy to the ascertain the reason behind his death.
“We have arrested the accused and sent the woman for medical examination,” said SP (rural) Yamuna Prasad.
According to the police, the woman, a resident of Rampur, visited Shahi village of Bareilly to meet her sister on Monday. The woman had reportedly come to Bareilly to take her ailing 14-day-old son to a doctor.
After visiting the doctor on Monday evening, she boarded a bus for Rampur.
“The bus reached Shishgarh bus stop around 10 pm. According to the woman there were very few passengers in the bus at that time. According to her complaint, the conductor and driver stopped her from getting out of the bus and later gangraped her,” informed the SP.
She became unconscious following which the accused dumped her and the infant at a secluded spot near the bus stop. According to sources, the duo covered the woman and the infant with a canvas before leaving the place.

{{/usCountry}}“A local informed the police about the woman following which a police team brought her to the police station on Tuesday morning,” said the SP.
“Later, we called her husband who filed a police complaint,” he added.
