Woman raped by husband, friends

A 25-year-old woman, a mother of three children, was allegedly gang-raped by her husband and four of his friends on Sunday night. The woman's husband was a quack at the village and all the accused were drunk at that time.

"On Sunday, the woman's husband had invited four friends home. Once they became drunk, he and his friends turned violent and raped her taking turns," said TJ Singh, Station Head Officer, Dankore.

"When she resisted and tried to raise an alarm, they put a piece of cloth in her mouth to silence her. Then they threatened her with death if she complained to anybody," said Singh.

"The victim's parents live at Dadri and she had married the man six years ago. The couple has two daughters and a son. Her husband was a liquour addict," Singh added.

"Though she used to have verbal arguments with her husband over his drunkardness, she was tolerating him for her children's sake. Sunday's incident forced her to lodge the complaint," said Singh.

"Meanwhile, the victim has been sent to the district hospital for medical examination," said Singh.

"The accused's family alleged the woman had lodged a false case. They were trying to pressurize her to take back the complaint," Singh added.
