The police have registered a case under various provisions of IPC, including Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994, against a doctor couple running a private nursing home in Hassanpur in Palwal district in Haryana.

The police arrested two medical assistants of the nursing home on Thursday and launched a massive hunt for the absconding doctor couple. The arrested persons were produced before the court on Friday which remanded them in two day’s police custody.

Farzana (26) of Mahru Nangla village in Palwal lodged a complaint with the Hassanpur police station on January 24 this year, saying she had gone to a private nursing home near Hassanpur for check up after she felt a pain in her abdomen in October, last year.

“When approached again, the doctor couple took the matter casually and I got myself checked in a nursing home in Meerut where my parents live. I was shocked when the doctors told me that my right kidney was missing,” she said.

“A medical examination done at PGI Rohtak also confirmed that the patient was without one kidney,” deputy superintendent of police Hodal, Virendra Singh told HT.

“Once we arrest the doctor couple and interrogate them, we will be in a position to comment if their medical degrees are genuine or fake,” the police said.
