According to police, the women alleged that Rajiv Sabarwal, 45, made lewd gestures to them and charged him with sending typed letters that defamed them through post.

One such letter was received at the local general merchant’s shop in Bagh Mughalia Extension recently. On Monday, a group of women went to Sabarwal’s house and had an argument and later beat him up.

According to SDOP RK Bhadoria, that the women had alleged that Sabarwal was indulging in character assassination of the women.

However, during the scuffle, Sabarwal also roughed up the women. Later, the Misrod police booked him for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.

On his complaint, the police have also registered a case and are looking into the matter. SDOP Bhadoria said that the computer of Sabarwal had been seized and the hard disk would be scanned to ascertain the charges.

He has been under suspension from a college in Sehore. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, burglars struck at a shop and made away with over a dozen cell phones costing over Rs 30,000.

In another incident, the Habibganj police have booked a person for trying to draw the gas compensation meant for another person through submission of fake papers. The accused, A Hamid, has been booked for forgery.
