Women brought petrol in plastic cans and set bus on fire, police said, adding 20 of them have been taken into custody in the matter.

About 470 conservancy workers have reportedly not been paid salaries for the past 26 months. They have been trying to draw the government's attention to their plight.

380 of them were taken into preventive custody, after the agitated workers declared on Wednesday that they would protest before Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today, police said.
