Do you feel guilty about not being able to provide a comfortable and cosy corner to your pooch? If yes, then interior designers share ways of doing up the house in a way that meets the requirements of your pets, too.
No compromise
“Use marble flooring with inlaid wooden borders that keeps cool in summers, so that your pet doesn’t get overwhelmed by the heat. It is easy to clean and looks beautiful,” says Faiza Seth of Casa Forma. Removable rubber/silicon mats or synthetic grass carpets can be used to bring an outdoor effect.
The pet corner must not be the central focus area of the house. “The corner should be easily accessible to the exit and entry points of the house, as pets bring dirt with them after their walk,” says Anuja Gupta of Apartment 9.
Designing tips
“Organise your pet’s accessories in his corner. Keep lots of cushions in the house to give them a comfortable environment,” adds Seth. One should use durable, easy-to-clean home linen, as pets do accumulate dirt in their paws, which gets smudged on the clothes.
“A painted, low picket fence can demarcate pets’ area well. Painting the corner walls in bright colours in turn makes it inviting for the pet. One can make a low shelf to keep their toys and other stuff. A small flag or hand-painted board with the pet’s name could be hoisted outside the corner,” suggests Gupta.

{{/usCountry}}The bed should have a comfortable mattress and the linen should be washed regularly to maintain hygiene. A bag of potpourri or burning some incense oil around this corner would help to fight any odour.
