An alarming streak of piety appears to have overcome our paparazzi. Now your-run-of-the-mill shutterbug would usually hang out near a night club hoping to get a shot of a celeb in his cups. But our lads have taken to haunting the precincts of places of worship. Over the last week, however, they have had slim pickings. Clearly, the Bachchans, have decided that work is worship, so no more treks to Siddhivinayak for the moment. Other favourites like socialites seem to have decided to tread the straight and narrow.

So to stay in the picture, our photographers have found that sticking around temples and mosques can yield dividends though they may be in the form of the same persons in different avatars. Yes, we refer to the pilgrim’s progress of former minister of state for external affairs, Shashi Tharoor, and his soon-to-be spouse Sunanda Pushkar. Now we can only deduce that our paparazzi have extrasensory perception because they seem to land with uncanny precision at the very spots that the devout duo are visiting. While the two pray in pretty poses, the photographers seem to materialise right in the sanctum sanctorum to click them. So when the twosome rushed off to Pushkar, the MP found time to point fondly at a board with bore his sweetheart’s surname. All very Archie comic bookish.
