Workshop for uplift of Dalits

WITH AN aim to develop and enhance the communication skills of women and the members of the Dalit community, a 12-day workshop on Communication and Soft Skills Development Under Service To Economy And Tribal Development began at the Design Centre of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) on Monday. The workshop has been organised under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) funded by the World Bank.

WITH AN aim to develop and enhance the communication skills of women and the members of the Dalit community, a 12-day workshop on Communication and Soft Skills Development Under Service To Economy And Tribal Development began at the Design Centre of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) on Monday. Speaking at the inaugural session, Chairman of MNNIT's TEQIP committee, Prof AK Mishra said that several initiatives are being taken at the institute level to promote and ameliorate the entrepreneurship and technical mettle among women and Dalit communities. "The workshop is being held as part of a series of continuous efforts in this regard, added Prof AK Mishra.

Women and persons of Allahabad from Dalit community are participating in the workshop which will conclude on July 10.

"The workshop aims to inculcate the basic ingredients of oratory skills needed in day-to-day affairs," informed Dr Geetika, assistant professor and co-ordinator of the workshop.

She asserted that since the importance of communications and presentation skills are playing important roles in career and personality advancement, stress will be laid on providing live exposure to the participants during the workshop.

The women and Dalit youths from all walks of life are participating in the workshop. Day one of the workshop was dedicated to extempore speech on a selected topic. The participants were asked to deliver a talk on issues like current affairs, personal experience and core areas.

A panel of experts supervised the sessions and gave necessary tips related to language, grammar and pronunciation and confidence building measures.
