Workshop on architecture course begins

A TWO-DAY curriculum revision workshop on the architecture diploma course being run by the polytechnic wing of the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) in the polytechnic institutes of State commenced on Tuesday.

A TWO-DAY curriculum revision workshop on the architecture diploma course being run by the polytechnic wing of the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) in the polytechnic institutes of State commenced on Tuesday.

During the workshop, the revision of curriculum of three-year diploma course – joined by students after 10+2 level would be finalised as per the level 1norms of the Council of Architecture.

The work of revision of the curriculum was underway since many months and this workshop is aiming to give final shape to the curriculum.

As per the revised norms, the course would be conducted in six semesters and would include a total of 2,880 lectures over these semesters.

The workshop, being organised by the Government Women’s Polytechnic commenced at the CRISP with Director of Technical Education Dr S K Paranjape as the chief guest at inaugural function.

Speaking on the occasion, the DTE said the rules of the Council of Architecture regarding the three-year diploma course are quite stringent and thus the course faced gradual decrease in strength of students.

Eminent architects, including Amogh Gupta, Manoj Sharma, Hemangi Vallabh, Subhashih Banerjee and Head, Department of Architecture of MANIT Alka Bharat were present as experts. Sushma Gokhale conducted the programme and Mukesh Lalji proposed the vote of thanks.
