The members of the forum have launched a door-to-door campaign to garner support for lodging protest against Sonia’s arrival.

They have distributed pamphlets, put up posters and stickers on the walls and vehicles urging people not to attend the Congress president’s rally scheduled for August 8.

Students could be seen standing at the Rawatpur and Medical College Crossing distributing pamphlets and putting up stickers on vehicles and making personal requests to the commuters for not attending the Congress rally. The forum has a large number of members from the medical colleges, engineering institutes, degree college and all professional institutions in the city. Chief convener of the protest plan Dr PN Shukla claimed that several organisations have extended full support to convince the people for boycotting the rally.

The Forum members said they would continue their campaign to win the support of the common citizens for a greater cause. The degree college students decided to join the campaign launched by the Youth for Equality Forum.

Considering the possibilities of clashes between the Forum and the Congress activists, the administration has become alert. However, the forum members said that they would remain peaceful during the campaign.

Senior students at the medical college, engineering institutes and other professional colleges addressed the new entrants and asked them to get prepared for a long-drawn battle with the government.

Meanwhile, State representative of the Youth For Equality (YFE) Chandrashekhar appealed to the residents of the city to oppose the proposed rally of Sonia Gandhi on August 8.

He said that now onwards the YFE would oppose all such rallies to be addressed by political leaders.

Talking to newsmen, the YFE members said that they would form a ‘human chain’ on August 5 at Phoolbagh at 5.30 pm to garner support against caste-based reservation policy.
