Hundreds of labourers worked round the clock and plugged the breach after 30 hours by dumping sand bags, empty gunny bags and stones.

The cause of the breach is still being ascertained by the officials of the irrigation department. The officials also stopped the flow of the water in the canal from Khubru Headworks for enabling the labourers to plug the breach.
