Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha on Monday opposed the proposed NSA level talks between India and Pakistan saying it would be a ‘dialogue of the deaf’ and ‘no outcome’ should be expected from this.
The former external affairs minister’s remarks on the proposed talks come against the backdrop of Congress’ questioning the futility of the dialogue when there have been a spate of terror attacks after the Ufa talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif.
Sinha told NDTV that the current government has clearly deviated from the stated BJP position that terror and talks cannot co-exist. “We constantly targeted the Manmohan Singh government in the last 10 years for a shift from this stand,” Sinha said.
The former Lok Sabha MP was one of the prominent faces of the BJP to attack the previous UPA government for being soft on terror and its keenness to talk to Pakistan despite several terror attacks.
Sinha also maintained that it was a considerate opinion of the then Atal Bihari Vajpayee government after years in power that dialogue with Pakistan was no possible while it continues to perpetrate terror.

{{/usCountry}}“For every point that you (India) will make, they (Pakistan0 have a counter point. You blame them for terror and they will blame you. You talk about Hafeez Sayeed and they will refer about Aseemanand. You talk about 26/11 and they will talk about Samjhauta express. For every dossier you produce, they will have a counter dossier,” Sinha said.
