Yasin Malik held on way to meet kin of Pulwama firing victim

Malik was arrested near Badami Bagh army cantonment in Srinagar and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to JKLF sources, Malik was going to Pulwama to “express solidarity” with the family of Bilal Ahmad Bhat, who was killed when security forces opened fire on people protesting the killing of two militants in Pulwama after an overnight encounter on Tuesday.

Both militants were locals, one of them being top Lashkar commander Irshad Ahmad Ganie.

The state government has ordered a “time-bound probe”, promising action against those found guilty.

Meanwhile, separatists have called for a shutdown in Pulwama on Wednesday against the killing. The call was given by hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
