Angry with the BJP brass for not reinstating him even after he drummed up sufficient support, former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on Saturday said he would not attend the party's National Executive meet to be held in Mumbai from May 24.
“I will not attend the party national executive,” said Yeddyurappa, who recently threatened to throw out the DV Sadananda Gowda government.
Yeddyurappa had to vacate the CM’s post after his name figured in the illegal mining report. Party seniors had convinced him to step down by assuring him a suitable post when the storm died down. The first BJP chief minister of the state, however, became impatient when the man he chose to replace him showed signs of moving out of his shadow.
On Monday, Yeddyurappa, who is facing a spate of corruption cases and a CBI probe, drummed up support of 70 plus MLAs and sought a change of guard.
He also hit out hard against Gowda, BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar and state BJP president KS Eshwarappa, but added he and his supporters will remain in the party for now.
While there were fears that he could split the BJP, BSY said he had changed his mind following an appeal by senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley.

{{/usCountry}}On Saturday too, Yeddyurappa sought to put to rest speculation about his future political move, saying he will not join any other party, including the Congress.
“There is speculation that I am going to join Congress. It is far from truth. There is no question of joining any political party,” he said.
The beleaguered BJP leader also praised Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi and described him as a “straightforward man and dynamic chief minister”.
