"It is Congress which had served the people and worked for the area's progress after the devastating quake of 2001," Gandhi said addressing a public meeting on the second leg of her whirlwind tour of Gujarat.

Her party had provided relief and rehabilitation aid to the people after the quake, she said.

Urging people to vote out the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, she accused them of being a "jan virodhi sarkar (anti-people government)".

"This election is the time to ask the government to file a detailed account of what they have done during the last five years", she said.

Gandhi also lauded the Supreme Court's recent judgement in the Best Bakery case and said "it was an example that people can now put their trust in the judiciary".

In her brief address Gandhi highlighted unison within the Congress and said "the party also always helped unite people".

After addressing the meeting here, she left by road for Jamnagar.
