A nine-member multi-party delegation of young Indian parliamentarians is leaving on Monday on a weeklong visit to the US.
The team would project India as a booming economy to the US government and Congress.
The delegation will visit Washington, New York and Atlanta, said the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), which has organised the trip.
The CII, which has multiple activities with the US to build understanding, cooperation and partnership, said in a statement that it hoped that the delegation would add a new dimension to its US initiatives and strategy.
The members of the delegation are Baijayant Jay Panda (Biju Janata Dal), Deepender Singh Hooda (Congress), Madhu Goud Yaskhi (Congress), Manvendra Singh (Bharatiya Janata Party), Prema Cariappa (Congress), Preneet Kaur (Congress), Sachin Pilot (Congress), Shahid Siddiqui (Samajwadi Party) and Suresh Prabhu (Shiv Sena).
During the visit, the MPs will meet US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Deputy National Security Adviser JD Crouch and Governor of Georgia Sonny Perdue.
The MPs will also interact with the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans during their visit as well as the Center for Disease Control (CDC), US Corporates, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), US-India Business Council (USIBC), the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the National Endowment for Democracy among others.
